Last updated: 26 February 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using House of The People ("HoTP", "the platform"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

2. Description of Service

HoTP is a civic engagement platform that allows users to vote on UK parliamentary bills, compare their votes with MPs, track legislation, and participate in community discussions. The platform is provided free of charge, with optional paid features.

3. Account Registration

When creating an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Accept responsibility for all activity under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.

4. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Create multiple accounts to manipulate voting results
  • Post abusive, threatening, or discriminatory comments
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Use automated tools to access the platform without permission
  • Attempt to interfere with the platform's operation or security
  • Use the platform for any illegal purpose

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

5. Voting & Comments

Votes cast on HoTP represent your personal opinion and are not official parliamentary votes. Vote counts and statistics are provided for informational purposes only. Comments you post are visible to other users and must comply with our conduct guidelines.

6. Parliamentary Data

Bill information, MP data, and division records are sourced from the UK Parliament API and are provided under the Open Parliament Licence. While we strive for accuracy, we cannot guarantee that all parliamentary data is complete or up-to-date.

7. AI-Generated Content

Some bill summaries and vote analysis are generated by artificial intelligence. While we review these for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors. Always refer to official parliamentary sources for definitive information.

8. Intellectual Property

The HoTP platform, including its design, code, and original content, is owned by House of The People Ltd. User-generated content (comments, votes) remains your property, but you grant us a licence to display it on the platform.

9. Limitation of Liability

HoTP is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to loss of data, service interruptions, or inaccuracies in parliamentary data.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
