This bill lets co-operative societies raise money by selling shares that members can buy and sell, but can't withdraw like savings. Voting power stays equal for all members no matter how many shares they own.
A bill to enable the law relating to societies registered under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014 to be amended to permit and facilitate the use of co-operative share capital; to provide consequential rights to members of such societies; and to restrict the voting rights of certain members who hold such shares.
