Renters’ Rights Act 2025

This bill transforms rental housing by abolishing no-fault evictions, setting housing quality standards, and creating an ombudsman service for tenant complaints. Landlords get clearer rules for when they can evict, and tenants get stronger protections against discrimination and unfair rent increases.

A Bill to make provision changing the law about rented homes, including provision abolishing fixed term assured tenancies and assured shorthold tenancies; imposing obligations on landlords and others in relation to rented homes and temporary and supported accommodation; and for connected purposes.
